Join me for a writing workshop at Levy Old Library on 8 March 2025, International Women's Day.

This Haunted House of Mine: understanding ourselves through horror

"A writing workshop for all levels, all welcome.

Saturday 8 March, 2-4pm @ Levenshulme Old Library.

Alex Herod will talk a little about her research, which looks at the therapeutic potential of horror writing in recovery from addiction and trauma, and introduce ways we can use the horror genre in writing for general wellbeing and self-exploration. There will be prompts from horror films and books, guided writing activities, and time to chat about it all.

No previous writing experience necessary, and there's no pressure to share anything during the workshop."

I'm really excited to be part of the Weird Women programme this year, alongside some other brilliant writers and artists. Gaynor Jones is leading a workshop using out-of-place objects to craft strange fiction, Sophie Parkes explores writing feminine folklore, and Liei's DIY experimental electronic music workshop sounds amazing!
